The Jenny’s Stoke Award
In Loving Memory of Jennifer Shedden
Purpose
The purpose of this award is to encourage women who have a love of the mountains to be able to pursue their dreams and passions and to receive outdoor education to improve their skills.
Inspiration
This award was inspired and designed to honor Jenny Shedden, who lost her life far too early at 34 years old on October 27th, 2019 from rock fall while ice climbing in the Sierra Mountains. Jenny’s passion for the mountains was infectious and her stoke was always high for adventure. She was a backcountry skier, rock climber and trail runner and was always up for a big mountain day romping in the Sierra Mountains.
Jenny created a community around her and loved to share her passions with others. This scholarship is to honor Jenny and find someone who shares her stoke, determination and love for the mountains.
Jenny’s Stoke Award
One award of $500 and a 1 year membership to Outdoor Women’s Wellness will be provided annually to help outdoor women gain more education in the outdoors. The funds can be applied to any outdoor course to improve education. For this award we encourage those who are underprivileged to apply.
Winners of the Award will be asked to write a small bio about themselves and about the course that they took to share to the community of Outdoor Women’s Wellness.
